Previous: Communication ability.
All intelligent agents must be sensitive
and responsive to their contexts, that is, their external environment and
internal state. As we have discussed elsewhere
[\protect\citenameTurner, 1993][\protect\citenameTurner, 1989][\protect\citenameTurner, 1994],
context impacts (or should impact) all aspects of an agent's behavior,
including:
- the way it handles unanticipated events, including what it ``thinks''
the event means, how important it thinks it is, and what response it thinks
is appropriate;
- the importance it assigns its mission goals;
- the way it carries out the mission; and
- behavioral parameters, such as whether or not it tries to save power
during path planning, etc.
