The Long-range AUV

MSEL is currently developing a long-range AUV that builds on their 15-year experience developing and fielding the short-range EAVE (Experimental Autonomous VEhicle) AUVs [\protect\citenameBlidberg &Chappell, 1986]. This vehicle will first be used for ocean science applications in the Gulf of Maine.

A diagram of the LRAUV is shown in Figure 1. The outer hull is a hydrodynamic fiberglass shell over glass pressure hulls containing the electronics. The electronics and computer systems are based on those of the EAVE AUVs, currently being upgraded.
