Interagent Communication Research at UMaine

Interagent communication research in the Department of Computer Science takes
place with the Maine Software Agent & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MaineSAIL). Current and past
projects include:
- Informativeness: Selecting what to say during problem solving based on
the usefulness of the information
- Multimodal interfaces: Joint project with the Department of Spatial
Information Science and Engineering/National Center
for Geographic Information and Analysis focusing on interfaces using
both text and graphics to obtain information from a user
- CoCo: Discourse-level control of natural language conversations with
problem-solving systems
- COLA: Interagent communication language for low-bandwidth situations,
e.g., for communication between autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs)
